There’s no schedule to these newsletter emails right now, will just be as and when I feel like it. What I’m currently working on;
I have half a dozen test sites getting anywhere from 1k to 50k traffic from Google, monetised w/ Display Ads and Affiliate. I try and avoid even thinking about them to be honest because with content sites you can generally never finish working - there’s always something to do between writing, editing, planning etc.
Main project last few months has been starting from a fresh domain, first time in years. Posted around 400k words so far, spent $10k+ on content. Acquired a decent enough domain and redirected it, so will update on that over the next 1-2 months. Done tons of redirects to older sites but not so much to fresh domains so will interesting to see how this plays out.
Picked up another naughty domain for $2500 direct from GoDaddy, DR48 with some nice links. Seen it listed on a smaller broker for just under $5k, a lot of the time they’ll list it before they’ve even bought it to know how high they can bid. Would’ve been $10k+ on ODYS for sure.
Bought contentplans.com from Huge Domains for $2800, plan to turn it into a personal site at some point talking about KW research, topic clusters etc. Paying it over instalments for 12 months for the domain at $200 a month; no idea why but when it’s 0% interest it makes me feel a lot better about stuff (think I’m being psychologically mind-fucked by the Klarna instalment mafia).
Currently in Thailand so it’s a whole lot of hotpots, khao soi & coconut smoothies and less of the “work” side of things. Lived in Bangkok for years cumulative & still never cooked whilst being here, just no point when you can get nice food delivered for $10. Anyway..
I might talk about these personal projects via Newsletter & Twitter but also want to talk about sites I’m coming across all the time that are built on expired domains and are absolutely killing it. It’s pretty fun to analyse sites so may as well share it too, how they’re doing it etc.
I’m also in domain auctions every day so if I see any beauties in a niche I’m not it I’ll share it - I’m trying to stick with tech-y stuff moving forward. Will also look at any experiments or other interesting things I’m coming across in the SERPs, as well as any other tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the past 6 years that may be useful.
How do you sign off a post? Not sure. Anyway, cheers. Have a good day.
